Jašiūnai Manor Museum offers visitors the opportunity to get to know Vilnius University and historical figures of the 19th century in an authentic, historical environment.
The museum’s exposition is based on the period of the Jašiūnai Manor from 1811, when the Balinskis began to manage it. The highlight of the exhibition is the clash of the Enlightenment and Romantic eras and the cultural flowering of the estate, when the construction of a magnificent palace in the Late Classicism style was started according to the design of the professor of architecture at Vilnius University, Karolis Podchashinskis.
The ground floor of the Jasiūnai Manor House houses two museum rooms, one dedicated to the household and culture of the manor, the other reflecting the spirit of the period. The first room of the museum is used for educational programmes, with a table and monitors for educational games. The second room on the first floor of the museum contains information about the Enlightenment and Romantic eras, the links between the Jašiūnai Manor and Vilnius University, scientists, and the genealogical tree of the Balinskys family.
On the second floor, visitors can visit the rooms dedicated to the personalities of the Jašiūnai Manor – Jan Sniadecki, Julius Słowacki, Mykolas Balinskis. The spaces in these rooms have been designed to meet the needs of the mini-seminar room without overpowering the memorial accents. The museum’s exhibition is presented in three languages.
An interesting highlight of the museum is an audio guide – a mobile app with information about the Jašiūnai Manor House, the museum exhibition, the Manor Park, the Jašiūnai town and the cemetery.
