The present stone Church of the Ascension was built in 1847-1852 according to the design of the well-known historian and engineer Teodoras Narbutas. The tall bell tower (40 m) with two gates on the sides is a rare compositional link in architecture. The church has many artistic monuments, the most valuable of which are the paintings of the 18th and 19th centuries: the portrait of the priest R. Kalinovsky, the ‘Ascension of Christ’ and the ‘Mary’ – monuments of republican significance.
